It's cool that he did this... the song kinda sucks though. Maybe it's the recording quality (live venue). I do like the refrain.
PS... the ending comment is the best part. |

I just listened to part of it - not really excited about it but it's nice that he penned it for his favorite team.
I'll listen to it again but it kinda sounds like a downer. |

| Greatest Cubs song! It's not a downer if you've followed the Cubs for the past hundred years... I think it expresses the eternal optimism that we all must possess to be Cubs fans. |

That's an odd thing for an optimist to say.
"Someday we'll go all the way."
That's pretty optimistic to me. |

| I really have never been able to stand Eddie's vocals, but I would be all for this song replacing "Go Cubs Go" |

| The name is the same as a Sean Hanna song. I downloaded it from Bricksandivy podcast. |

Agreed ... and I'd hate to see Go Cubs Go replaced as the post-game anthem.
We attended the last home game on Sunday, and they did play the Eddie Vedder song between innings - although there were some PA announcements being made at the same time, which kinda sucked.
My brother says they should add "Hey Hey Holy Mackeral" to the post-game victory sing along. I'd be ok with adding "All The Way" to the mix, too.
But Steve Goodman stays. He never got to see the World Series he so very much wanted. It's the least we can do. |

I agree about Goodman being an institution, though my fear is that it's never going to go away.
It's like the musical equivalent of the War on Terror |

I still say Eddie Vedder stole this from a singer Sean Hanna. Check out the link above from last year.
It sure sounds like the same song.
So who really wrote it? |
Apparently it's an Eddie Vedder song, which Sean Hanna covered last year.
