Okay, no, he's not. But in a year when the Cubs have a mini-Yankee payroll, a parade of limping players (6 all stars have now missed time due to injury) and a limping offense, and more bizarre roster moves than most desperate, drunken Fantasy Owners make in an entire season . . . Bobby Scales has injected Cub fans with a healthy dose of the feel-goods.

He's a 31-year-old rookie. He's a substitute teacher. He has a 5-game hitting streak to begin his career. And his every success seems to be incurably smile-inducing. His pinch-hit homer tonight gave me goose bumps, I'm not gonna lie to you. Tomorrow I'm legally changing my first name to Bobbyscales.

Okay, so I lied to you, at least twice. Regardless, thank God for Bobby Scales. He might not be the secret ingredient to the Cubs' World Series hopes, but right now he's the key factor in me actually liking this team on the field right now.

Oh yeah. I was at the Padres-Cubs game last night.

I was excited for chance to see Scales get the pinch-hit at bat and what does he do - wham, his first MLB homer and he speeds around the bases. It's great to see a guy make the most of his chance to show what he can do in the big leagues. His effort makes some of the rest of the Cubs look indifferent. I'd love to get a photo of him flying into third base on his triple the other day.

Last night the team turned in a good game on defense and offense, except for D Lee's ineffectiveness at the plate. Hope something can be done to make bulging disc problem subside so he can bring some offense back to his game.

Yeah, it's really a feel good story. With each hit I get a little more excited for him. It reminds me of when Fontenot first came up a couple years ago

Maybe I was to quick to say "no" on that one. He's looking pretty deity-riffic.

Scales successes are coming at the perfect time. With all of the injuries and what not, a feel good story was in order to lift some spirits. I've seen Bobby down in Iowa a few times and it's good to see him at the big league level, hopfully for a while longer.

I was happy to see Scales get the start at 3rd base yesterday as well as his big contributions at the plate.

He's showing a lot of hustle - gotta love it.

I'm hoping he gets a chance to stick with the club all season and into the playoffs.

He is not Aram but he is stepping up and showing us he is there to play ball and he is getting the job done. Lou may want to keep him around for the rest of the season just to see what he can do. Great job so far.

When the cubs are fully healthy, keeping Scales on the team will require Hoff, Font, Miles, or Freel being sent down.. I'm not sure that'll be happening for him

I like the idea of keeping Scales on the team. In the few games he's been up here, I think he's shown that he's all business, will keep his head down and keep battling to keep improving. So far he seems like a guy that, while rarely hitting homeruns, can be the guy that will come through with the clutch single every time you need him.
